Firefox to Reach the 500 Million Milestone

FirefoxAccording to Spread Firefox, the Firefox promotion and community site, downloads of Firefox downloads are to hit the 500 million mark. This is a huge milestone by Mozilla on the quest of being the dominant secure, reliable and efficient web browser. In celebrating the milestone Spread Firefox are organisating a community based event that will help the poor;

“In honor of the 500 million download mark we’re going to celebrate by raising 500,000,000 grains of rice in one day to help feed the world’s poor. The plan is on the day of the 500million mark we’ll flock to Freerice.com and push the days total past its average, and into the 500 million… it goes further? that’s just a foreshadow to where one day Firefox will be. Spread the message, be the change. Food for thought, uh, better yet, Food for Lives; if we reach 500 million grains of rice, that’s a direct contribution in feeding 25,000 people for one day!
