Video Game Ratings in UK to be Revised

According to the BBC, the UK government is backing a campaign by pressure groups for the review of the video game ratings system in the country. This has come after repeated calls from concerned child protection groups that some video games ought to be checked or banned from selling in the UK. Examples include games like GTA: San Andreas and Man Hunt (1 & 2).

They argue that the video game ratings seems needs to be overhauled and be made to that is used by the British Board of Film Classification when rating movies. Thus it will make it simple for people when buying or selling to see what type of players it is intended and suitable for. Dr Tanya Byron, who is at the forefront of these new proposals also suggests new computers be sold with software that will lock away unsuitable content online.
