Yahoo! Trying Out Adsense On Search Results

In a move clearly designed to infuriate Microsoft, Yahoo! have announced that they will start trying out Google’s AdSense for its search service. That is the Adsense ads will be displayed along side Yahoo search results. They say the trial is a two week limited test to U.S traffic only on less than 3% of search queries and wont involve Yahoo!’s premium publisher partners.

I know Yahoo! say they are exploring alternatives to the Microsoft offer and trying to maximize their shareholder value but teaming up with Google? We also know that can not pass anti-trust laws as it would create one big monopoly and the Big G would be laughing all the way to the bank. The aim is just to frustrate Microsoft to up their offer. My thinking is Yahoo! should just take it before Microsoft walk away.

The Company noted that the testing does not necessarily mean that Yahoo! will join the AdSense for Search program or that any further commercial relationship with Google will result. The Company further stated that it would not comment on the nature or timing of any potential relationship.
