Announcing BlackBerry Bold (in every sense)
Research In Motion (RIM) have unveiled a new addition to the BlackBerry smartphone called the BlackBerry Bold. Yes, it is bold indeed. Whether its going to live up to its name only time sales will tell. It will be available this summer worldwide but no exact date was specified.
Bold is the first in the family to support tri-band HSDPA and also packs integrated GPS and Wi-Fi among other features. Bold also got some newly redesigned full QWERTY keyboard.
What BlackBerry Bold is packing under the hood;
- powered by BlackBerry OS 4.6 on a 624MHz Intel mobile processor
- 128MB of flash plus 1GB of on-board storage memory
- Quad-band EDGE, Tri-band HSDPA
- Wi-Fi: 802.11a/b/g
- 5 hour talk time and 13 days stand-by
- integrated GPS with pin-point accuracy to support BlackBerry Maps and can be used while on call
- 480 x 320 resolution screen with 65K colors
- MicroSD/SDHC slot for up to 16GB memory
- rich multimedia support: DivX, ACC, WMV3, mp3, WMA. Enhanced media player with equaliser presets
- 2 Megapixel camera with built-in flash and 5x digital zoom

Like the folks at RIM are saying it is a bold statement that business and power users alike are going to appreciate. No doubt this is not the iPhone killer as user base is different but it is the right direction.
